Schools closed/delayed ahead of possible ice

Alcoa, Blount Co., Lenoir City and Loudon Co. schools closed today. Maryville, Oak Ridge, Sevier Co. schools open on two hour delay. Knox Co. schools were already scheduled to be closed for an in-service day, staff to report on two hour delay schedule.

UPDATE: Maryville, Oak Ridge and Sevier Co. schools closed.

NWS: "An approaching low pressure system will spread light precipitation across the area today. Temperatures are expected to remain at or below freezing through the morning hours which will allow for freezing rain to develop. Surface temperatures are expected to climb back above freezing during the early afternoon today as the precipitation turns to all rain."

You can't see it falling or sticking, but sidewalks, driveways and streets are getting dangerously slick here in Alcoa.

Be careful out there. Just took the pupster out for a quick walk. The steps and sidewalks are slippery.
